Is Korn a goth?
For 25 years, Korn stood stalwart in metal, “nu” or not (a genre they despise but have made peace with). Their then-radical sound incorporated goth, funk and hip-hop with blisteringly miserable lyrics. Disenchanted teens sent them up the album charts.

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis has opened up about his previous addiction to methamphetamine during the early days of the band's success in a recent episode of Steve-O's Wild Ride, a podcast hosted by the former Jackass star.
Everyone still thinks I'm gay. I go through different names. I'm Gay Guy at the moment. But I'm not gay.
Welch and Korn bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu have been public about their conversion experiences, becoming two of the more visible Christian musicians in heavy metal.
I just don't necessarily like what goes on in them. Ha ha!” Fans will remember that Head left Korn in 2005, becoming a Christian and speaking openly about his faith. In a 2014 interview with Fanpass, the guitarist stated, "I hate religion.
According to Korn's lead vocalist and frontman, Jonathan Davis, the name Korn came about rather organically. The band—whose current lineup includes Davis, James “Munky” Shaffer, Brian “Head” Welch, and Ray Luzier—had decided on the name after initial pushback from their manager.

Ed Sheeran fans, or 'Sheerios', are a committed bunch. When he performed a Live Lounge session in December, fans braved freezing temperatures to meet the star while he was visiting Radio 1.
Surprisingly, Doja Cat's fandom now has an official name: Kittenz.
Since his conversion to Christ more than 16 years ago, Welch has been very open about how God changed his lifestyle and restored his relationship with his daughter. In recent years, Brian has been preaching that people don't have to wait until they die to see if having an encounter with the presence of God is real.
Yes, Slipknot have commercially outstripped Korn at this point, yes, they borrowed just as much from extreme metal, and, yes, they were only really a nu-metal band for one album.
It wasn't the reason he left Korn -- the band he helped form in 1993, a band that's sold more than 11 million records in the U.S. He left because he had become sick of "chasing the almighty buck," and felt that being respected by his young daughter was more important than being rich.
Korn's James "Munky" Shaffer answered TMZ's questions at Los Angeles International Airport this week, commenting on his journey with sobriety and the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. The Korn guitarist has been sober for over a decade.
His career has turned around, too. Korn has reunited, all sober, and another member is Christian as well. Besides his former band, Welch works with another musical project, Love and Death, and is the author of multiple books, including “Stronger: Forty Days of Metal and Spirituality.”
Well, it's exactly what it reads as — it's "Korn III" because it's our third album with [producer] Ross Robinson. It's not like we're trying to start a new generation of Korn or anything, but I'm a permanent member now it feels like a mini fresh start.
Jonathan Howsmon Davis, lead singer for Korn, was born in Bakersfield, California. His ancestry includes English, German, Scottish, and Welsh, so his kilts are a heritage expression as well as just super cool.
Jennea Welch, daughter of Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch, is no stranger to the spotlight. She grew up going on tour with her father's band and later accompanied him onstage as he spoke to audiences around the world about his faith.
How old is Korn?
Originally formed in 1993 by three members of the band L.A.P.D., Korn's current lineup features founding members James "Munky" Shaffer (guitar); Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu (bass); Brian "Head" Welch (guitar, backing vocals); and Jonathan Davis (lead vocals, bagpipes), with the addition of Ray Luzier (drums) in 2007, ...
In fact, Korn and the form of nu-metal they created was the first time an artist had ever moved away from the traditional conception of rock music – in terms of the instruments and vocals. Their music had no pentatonic riffs, no blues melodies, and no guitar solos.
Nu metal is a less aggressive form of death metal, and elements of the genre have become a part of other hybrid genres like metalcore and deathcore. Notable nu-metal bands include Korn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Deftones, Mudvayne, Crazy Town, Soulfly, Alien Ant Farm, and Static-X.
Describing how he got his nickname "Head", Welch stated, "Guys said my head looked like it was too big for my body, and so they started calling me 'Head. ' I guess it stuck".
Turns out that the origins of how Korn got its band name was far more disgusting than changing the “c” to a “k” in “corn.” The generally accepted origin story of how Korn got its band name is that James Schaffer suggested they spell “corn” with a “k” and a backwards “r.”

Why is Korn called corn?
According to Korn's lead vocalist and frontman, Jonathan Davis, the name Korn came about rather organically. The band—whose current lineup includes Davis, James “Munky” Shaffer, Brian “Head” Welch, and Ray Luzier—had decided on the name after initial pushback from their manager.
Korn. I've never personally felt like a freak on a leash, but nu-metal's bad rock is now dad rock. There were so many bad nu-metal bands in the late 90s and early 00s, we've thankfully forgotten the majority of them, but Korn led the bunch.
Gothic paganism was the original religion of the Goths before their conversion to Christianity.

A combination of post-punk, glam rock, and hard rock influences, "goth rock" is a subgenre of alternative rock associated with the goth subculture. It often leans on dance percussion beats, driving bass lines, jangly guitar distortions, dramatic vocals, dark scales, and reverb or delay.
Emo broke into mainstream culture in the early 2000s with the sales success of Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional, with the genre's popularity continuing in the mid-to-late 2000s with bands such as My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
